We recommend booking immediately after the show — appointment slots fill fast in the days following each gun show weekend.
Why Gun Show Visitors Need ATF Fingerprinting#
Purchasing an NFA-regulated item at the gun show is only step one. Before the ATF can approve your transfer, you must submit a completed application package that includes:
- ATF Form 4 (or Form 1)
- Passport-style photo
- CLEO notification (for individuals)
- Fingerprint submission
The fingerprint step is where most applicants lose time. Getting fingerprinted promptly after the gun show keeps your wait time in ATF’s queue — not in your own backlog.
Our ATF Fingerprinting Services#
EFT Digital Fingerprint Files — For ATF eForms (Recommended)#
Most NFA applicants today file through the ATF eForms electronic system, which requires an EFT (Electronic Fingerprint Transaction) digital file rather than a paper card.
EFT advantages:
- Required for ATF eForms Form 4 and Form 1 electronic submissions
- Reusable — your file can be used for future suppressor purchases without a new appointment
- Higher image quality than traditional ink
- Deliverable via secure digital transfer or USB drive
- Faster ATF processing than paper applications
We recommend USB delivery so you have a permanent copy ready for your next NFA purchase.
FD-258 Fingerprint Cards — For Paper ATF Applications#
For applicants submitting paper ATF forms, we provide professional FD-258 fingerprint card capture using digital live scan transfer (recommended) or traditional ink.
- FBI-standard FD-258 fingerprint cards
- Rolled ten-print impressions
- ATF-compliant formatting
- Quality review before you leave
- On-site cards available if your dealer did not provide one
EFT File vs. FD-258 Card — Which Do You Need?#
| EFT Digital File | FD-258 Card | |
|---|---|---|
| ATF eForms (electronic) | Required | Not accepted |
| Paper ATF applications | Not accepted | Required |
| Reusable for future NFA items | Yes | No |
| Image quality | Higher | Varies |
| Processing speed | Faster | Slower (mail required) |
Not sure which you need? Ask your NFA dealer — they will specify which format your application requires. We provide both.
Who Needs Fingerprinting After the Gun Show#
You need ATF fingerprinting if you purchased or are filing for:
- ATF Form 4 — Transfer of a suppressor, SBR, SBS, AOW, or machine gun
- ATF Form 1 — Making and registering your own NFA item
- Suppressor purchase through a licensed dealer (Form 4)
- Short Barrel Rifle (SBR) registration
- Short Barrel Shotgun (SBS) registration
- Any Other Weapon (AOW) application
Gun trust applicants: Every responsible person listed on the trust must submit their own fingerprints. We accommodate multiple responsible persons in a single appointment block — contact us to arrange.
You Don’t Need to Wait for Your Paperwork#
A common misconception is that you need to wait until all your ATF paperwork is complete before getting fingerprinted. You don’t. You can get fingerprinted at any point in the process. Many customers get fingerprinted immediately after the gun show while their dealer handles the paperwork on their end. Getting it done early eliminates one item from your checklist.
What to Bring#
- Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, passport, state ID, or military ID)
- ATF Form 4 / Form 1 cover letter (if your dealer provided one)
- Gun trust documents listing all responsible persons (if filing as a trust)
- Dealer paperwork from the gun show (if available — not required to get fingerprinted)
We stock FBI-approved FD-258 cards on-site if your dealer did not provide one.

Frequently Asked Questions#
Can I get fingerprinted the same day or day after the gun show? Yes. Same-day and next-day appointments are typically available. Appointment demand increases in the days immediately following a gun show weekend, so we recommend booking online as soon as possible to secure your preferred time.
Do I need to wait for my dealer paperwork before getting fingerprinted? No. You can get fingerprinted at any point in the Form 4 or Form 1 process. Getting fingerprinted immediately after the show removes that step from your checklist while your dealer processes the remaining paperwork.
I bought multiple NFA items at the gun show — do I need separate fingerprint appointments? Not necessarily. With an EFT file, your fingerprints can often be reused for multiple ATF eForms submissions. Confirm with your NFA dealer for your specific situation.
I’m filing as a gun trust with multiple responsible persons — can you handle all of us? Yes. Contact us before booking and we will set up a block appointment to fingerprint all responsible persons in one visit.
EFT or FD-258 — which should I get? Ask your NFA dealer which format your application requires. ATF eForms (electronic filing) needs EFT. Paper ATF applications need FD-258 cards. If you are unsure, EFT is the safer choice for most modern applications. We provide both.
Can I reuse my EFT fingerprints for my next suppressor purchase? Yes. That is one of the key advantages of EFT over paper cards. Request USB delivery and you will have your fingerprint file ready for every future NFA application without booking a new appointment.
Are you affiliated with the Nation’s Gun Show? No. CyberInk Notary Services is an independent fingerprinting provider and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Nation’s Gun Show or any gun show organizer. We reference the show only to help local NFA applicants find nearby fingerprinting services.
Book Your Appointment — Don’t Wait#
ATF wait times are already long. Don’t add to them by delaying your fingerprint submission.
